Bobby Joe Miller, born on December 28, 1934, in Orange County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026, at Duke University Hospital. He was a cherished member of a large family and left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Bobby was a graduate of Hillsboro High School, where he laid a foundation for a life filled with love and family. Following his education, he devoted himself to those he loved, creating a legacy that will be remembered fondly.

He is survived by his step- Daughter Linda P. Edwards (Frank) of Hillsborough and his step-son, Quentin Phillips (Nell) of Mebane, along with daughter-in-law Darnell L. Phillips of Timberlake. Bobby also leaves behind five step-grandchildren: Walt Wilson, Robert Melton, Michael Phillips (Tina), Jennifer P. Oliver (Scott), and Sasha Phillips, who were sources of pride and joy in his later years. The love he shared extends to six great-grandchildren and twelve great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews, all of whom were fortunate to experience his kindness and affection.

Bobby was predeceased by his beloved wife, Rosalie Sykes Phillips, who was a central figure in his life. He is also remembered by his parents: William "Ed" Miller and Annie Garrad Miller. He leaves behind a legacy shaped by the bonds of his siblings, including brothers Hamilton, Guy, and Bill Miller, and sister Mary M. McBroom. He was also preceded in death by his step-son David Roy Phillips and step-grandson Steve Melton.

The community is invited to pay their respects during the visitation at Gospel Baptist Tabernacle, located at 2646 Orange Grove Road in Hillsborough, NC, on February 6, 2026, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. This will be followed by a funeral service at the same location, commencing at 2:00 PM and concluding by 3:00 PM.

Bobby Joe Miller’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him, and his legacy will continue through his family and friends.
