Although his dream of becoming an airplane or helicopter repairman was altered due to color blindness, he excelled as a Parachute Rigger. His military service allowed him to travel extensively, visiting countries such as Ireland, Belgium, Denmark, France, Spain, Sweden, and Norway, experiences that he felt completed his education and shaped his worldview.
After his military service, Bobby began his civilian career at the NC Department of Social Services, where he met his beloved wife. His career with the United States Postal Service spanned 44 years, during which he served as an LSM Operator, a Mail Processing Clerk, and a Window Clerk, retiring in 2013.
Bobby's dedication to his faith was evident in his active involvement in Forestville Baptist Church, Heritage Baptist Church, and Youngsville Baptist Church. He served in various capacities, including Nominating Committee member and Chairman, Building & Grounds Member, Choir member, Deacon, Elder, and Co-Clerk, and he treasured his 25 years as Treasurer of Forestville Baptist Church.
His interests were as diverse as his service to the community. Bobby loved music, singing, dancing, and was often found solving pictures and crossword puzzles. He had a passion for fixing things and working in his shop. He loved worshipping in church and serving the Lord by sharing and caring for others.
