Bobby Moore Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pippin Funeral Home - Camden Wyoming on Feb. 20, 2026.
Bobby Louis Moore (nicknamed Tall Paul-Nerk), was born on February 28, 1943 in Waynesville, North Carolina, Haywood County. He was preceded in death by his father Edward Wilson, mother Mary Moore Cox, Ruth Moore (Granny, Momma), Fred Garland Moore (Pop), son Robert Johnson, grandson Dakari Johnson and Godson Travis Moore.

Bobby Moore went through the Public School system in Canton, North Carolina, graduating from Reynolds High School. Upon his high school graduation, Bobby attended North Carolina A.&T. Agricultural and Technical State University with the late Rev. Jesse Jackson. Bobby was then drafted into the U.S. Army where he trained as a Combat Medic Specialist. In this capacity, Bobby was also awarded his liberal arts degree in Medical Technology. Bobby also earned a National Defense Service Medal. At the end of his military service in the U.S. Army, Bobby received an honorable discharge. Upon returning to civilian life, Bobby worked for General Motors, Wilmington, Delaware. During this time, Bobby was also a student at the University of Delaware where he received his master's degree in Biochemistry. Bobby was employed with DuPont, Wilmington, DE, and worked as a chemist for over 35 years at their Stine Haskell and Experimental Station locations upon retirement.

Bobby was a member of First Pilgrim Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop Doreina C. Miles. Bobby was a member of the First African American Cub Scouts sponsored by Reynold PTA and was a member of the Union Lodge No. 21, Masons Prince Hall, free and accepted affiliate.

He loved his family, enjoyed dancing, good music, fishing, golf, bowling, camping and taking his family back to his home state of North Carolina attending many family reunions that included gathering with Granny. Here is where the collectible memories of cookouts, Bid Whist, laughter and Granny's famous beans and corn bread originated.

Words cannot exemplify the character of this man of God, his integrity and love for others.

Bobby is survived by his siblings: Kenneth Cox (Rose), Michael Cox (Kimberly), Barbara Hockaday (Rufus), Deborah Cox and Cathy Cox. Bobby also leaves two children Andre Louis Moore (Melissa) and Chemai Marie Moore; his former wife, Rev. Dr. Annmarie Moore-Handley; seven grandchildren: Ty McNair, David McNair, Halie Johnson, Andrea Johnson, Andre Israel Moore, Andre Joseph Steel Moore, Isaiah Travis Moore; six great grandchildren: Jaxon McNair, Octavia McNair, Jordan McNair, Ethan McNair, David McNair Jr. and Kristopher McNair; Goddaughter LaShawn Carter; uncle Charles Moore (Alice); aunts: Carolyn Moore, Thelma Gibbs (Hillard) and Virginia Oats; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Bobby departed this life surrounded by members of his family.
