Bobby Murray

On Friday, March 6, 2026, Bobby Lewis Murray 89 of Sears, MI, passed away at home peacefully with family.

Bobby was born to a coal mining family in Valley Creek, Tennessee on December 1, 1936 to Robert and Modena (McCoy) Murray. There were some lean times in the valley, so Bobby's Dad taught him how to fish. He helped put food on the table & enjoyed going fishing whenever he could. Being an adventurous young man he decided to join the armed forces. After 21 years he retired. Then he met the joy of his life, Linda Colton from Monroe, MI. They were married on September 11, 1976 and resided in Carleton, MI. He worked at Chrysler before moving north in 1978. Bobby worked various jobs in the area. His favorite one was working with his Father-In-Law, Chester Colton, at Horsehead Lake Marina.

Bobby enjoyed his hobbies. He cultivated a large picturesque garden year after year for all to take in and enjoy. He was a woodworker that created many beautiful, functional pieces of art. If you couldn't find him in the garden or workshop, he could be found on the water. Fishing, no matter the time of year, brought him much joy and a full belly. He was a lover of animals, especially his therapy dog, Oscar, who he got to grow old with.

Bobby also found something that became very precious to him. He got involved with his Ministry of sharing the Good News of the Bible with others as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. He loved the message and the people he met.

Surviving are his wife; daughter, Sonya Andres of Big Rapids; grandchildren, Mariah (Tyler) Murray of Sand Lake and Marshal Andres of Big Rapids; sister, Shelby LaBeau of Wyandotte and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Bobby was preceded in death by: his dad, Robert O. Murray; mom, Modena (Henry) Lenard; brother, John Murray and three sisters, Betty Murray, Wanda Orr, and Barbara Campbell.

Per Bobby's wishes cremation has taken place through the Corey Funeral Home in Evart. A celebration of life is being planned for warmer weather and will be announced when the date becomes available.
