Bobby Rains Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Boren-Conner Funeral Home - Jacksonville on Dec. 9, 2025.
Bobby Ray Rains, 84, of Jacksonville, passed from this life on December 7, 2025, at his residence. He was born on September 14, 1941, in Moulton, Alabama, to the late Irvin Thomas Rains and Eunice (Carroll) Rains. Bobby was raised in Moulton and graduated from Lawrence County High School. He went on to work as an industrial electrician for many years before relocating to Jacksonville, Texas, where he raised his family and served as the Head of Maintenance for Lon Morris College until his retirement in 2012.

Bobby loved all sports, but football was his greatest passion. He was a devoted Alabama fan, and everyone knew not to get between him and the television on game day, especially when they were playing Auburn. The only thing he loved more than football was his grandchildren. He was a deeply devoted grandfather who would do absolutely anything in the world for "his babies."

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Sandra Lawson Rains; his children, Jeff Rains and wife April, and Zane Rains and wife Nicole; his brother, Billy Rains and wife Jane; grandchildren Stormie Work and husband Dakota, Ciana Landrum and husband Matthew, Baylie Wagoner and husband Terry, Makenna Rains and partner Jay, Hannah Craig, Morgan Thompson and husband Koltyn, and Jordan Ringer and husband Micah; great-grandchildren Brydan, Weldon, Nolan, Adeline, Ella, Bentley, Tinsley, and Carson; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Per his wishes, there will be no formal services. Instead, the family asks that his life be celebrated with a good steak and a heartfelt "Roll Tide" at every touchdown during the upcoming Alabama vs. Sooners playoff game.
