Bobby Nelson Sparks, 76

Bobby Nelson Sparks, 76 of West Portsmouth, passed away Monday, September 22, 2025 at Bridgeport Nursing Home. He was born April 9, 1949 in Ashcamp, Kentucky, to the late Charles and Mildred Diamond Sparks.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by 3 brothers; Dock, Donald and Hank Sparks and 3 sisters; Gladys Roe, Ethel Lyons and Donna Truman.

Bobby was a United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Kentucky 1006. Bob was retired from the City of Portsmouth after 30 years. He was a Wastewater Operator Class 3 and a Water Treatment Operator Class 1.

Bobby is survived by his wife Barbara Miller Sparks, whom he married on December 1, 1974, a son Brad (Megan) Sparks, 2 daughters; Angela (Ron) Brown and Amy Sparks (Justin Kuhn), a brother Charles Sparks, 2 sisters; Rosie Brown and Debbie (Keith) Pope, 6 grandchildren; Abbigayle (Nathan), Noah, Hannah, Corra, Miller and Eli, 1 great grandchild Will, along with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, September 25, 2025 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth, with Nathan Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Firebrick Community Cemetery with military rites by the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday starting at 11:00 AM. Condolences may be sent to www.rogerwdavisfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
