Bobby Splechter

Bobby Leo Splechter, 92, of Sandoval passed away peacefully Friday, May 2, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on January 24, 1933, in Houston, Missouri, the son of Joseph Albert and Verda Mae (Green) Splechter. He married the love of his life, Verta Lee Skeen on May 9, 1952, in Salem and she survives in Sandoval.
Along with his wife of 73 years, Verta Splechter, survivors include his children, Charles Joseph Splechter and wife Terri of Sandoval, Becky Allen and husband Norman of Sandoval, and Lisa Wolenhaupt Centralia; grandchildren, Gary Gelsinger, Robbie Gelsinger, LeeAnn Gelsinger, Brionna Bierman, Kasey Rankin, Kathryn Bouchard, Tim Wolenhaupt, and Chris Wolenhaupt; great-grandchildren, Mark, Taylor, Hailey, Jenna, Cody, Jordan, Benjamin, Abigail, Tayshia, Tatiyona, Jessica, Noah, Carter, Malakhai, Isla, Aria, and Rhys; great-great-grandchildren, Ryan, Aries, Ariella, and Ahjunaya; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Mr. Splechter was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Verda Splechter; siblings, Margaret Redman, Jewel Hohensee, Carl Splechter, and Harry Splechter, Jimmy Spechter, and Bonnie Noreen Hart; son-in-law, Brad Wolenhaupt.
Mr. Splechter was a proud United States Army veteran, serving time in Korea. Bobby was active in his community and a member of the Centralia VFW Post 2055 and American Legion Post 446. He was a member of Assembly of God Church in Odin, where he sang in the choir and served as an usher. He was a hard worker and dedicated provider for his family, working as an over-the-road semi-truck driver for many years until his retirement. Bobby loved music and was a self-taught musician, playing guitar while singing gospel and country music. Bobby enjoyed working on his golf swing while playing out on the course. He was a wonderful man of faith who cared for his family deeply and was a loyal friend. Bobby will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at the Day Macz Funeral Home in Sandoval with Rev. Tom Spain officiating. Interment will follow at Sandoval City Cemetery in Sandoval where military rites will be accorded by the Centralia VFW Post 2055 and American Legion Post 446. Relatives and friends are welcome to a visitation time from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home in Sandoval. Memorials may be made in Bobby's honor to Centralia VFW Post 2055 American Legion Post 446 and will be accepted for his family at the Day Macz Funeral Home in Sandoval.
