Ronald "Ronnie" J. Sears, 77, of Salem, Illinois, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, March 19, 2026.

Ronnie was born on December 26, 1948, in Centralia, Illinois, the son of Robert Gene Sears and Viola Mae (Nichols) Sears. He spent his life rooted in southern Illinois, where he built a life centered on family, hard work, and simple joys.

Ronnie was a dedicated worker for many years. He spent 24 years at World Color Press before retiring from Gilster-Mary Lee. His strong work ethic and reliability were qualities admired by those who knew him.

On December 27, 2002, Ronnie married Christine (Bredar) Sears, in Salem. Together they shared many happy years filled with love, laughter, and family.

Ronnie enjoyed gardening and yard work, and in his younger years, he loved hunting and fishing. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and found great joy in attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Ronnie attended Trinity United Methodist Church, where he found fellowship and community. He will be remembered for his love of family, his steady presence, and the joy he found in life's everyday moments. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Christine Sears; his children, Ashley Sears (Dallisa) and Derek Sears; stepchildren, Stefanie Whyers (Joe) and Ryan Ray (Rebecca); grandchildren, Ledger, Emma, Makenzie, Madeline, Clayton, and Reagan; and great-grandchildren, Olivia, Ava, Ivy, and Bella. He is also survived by his siblings, Tina Schrage, Gay Chapman, and Vickie Bell.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Steve Greenlee; and his sister, Barb Lucas.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Centralia Humane Society and can be received at the church or at Crouse Funeral Home who is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences can be directed be left at www.CrouseFH.com
