Bobby Blake Staples, 89, died February 20th, 2025. Visitation will be held on Saturday March 1st, 2025 at 9:00 am at the Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram, MS with the memorial service at 10:00 am. The burial will follow at 2:00 pm at Oregon Memorial, Lexington, MS.
Mr. Staples was born on February 24th, 1935, and grew up in Ackerman, MS. He graduated from Mississippi State University with a mechanical engineering degree in 1957 and married his wife Shirley Downer Staples later that year. Bobby then served in the U.S. Army for two years before moving his family to Jackson, MS, where they raised their two children, Barry Alan Staples and Paula Lynn Pace.
Mr. Staples worked for AT&T for 31 years before retiring and working for the state of Mississippi for 5 years. Bobby and Shirley were active members of Alta Woods Baptist Church since 1976. He and his wife moved to Terry, MS in 1994 on “The Land” where he enjoyed his five grandchildren, Zach, Kaitlin, Leslie, Madeline, and Samantha, and three great-grandchildren, Savannah Kate Staples, Charles Rowdy Ephraim Staples, and Heidi Louise Snyder.
Mr. Staples is survived by his son, Barry Staples with his wife Aimee, and their children, Zach (Michelle) and Kaitlin; his daughter, Paula Pace and her children, Leslie (Jake), Madeline, and Samantha, and his sister Eddie Lou Finger (James).
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Downer Staples, his father Charles Edgar “Eddie” Staples, and his mother Louise Blake Staples.
Serving the family as pallbearers are: Zach Staples, Rowdy Staples, Jimmy Finger, Andy Smith, Jake Snyder, Ron Saltzman, and Sid Johnson.
