Rev. Bobby E. Taylor

August 25, 1934 - December 5, 2025

Taylor - Rev. Bobby E. Taylor, age 91, entered his heavenly home on Friday, December 5, 2025. He was born on August 25, 1934, in Dublin, Georgia to the late William O. and Nellie Mae Register Taylor. Bobby was a 1953 Graduate of Rentz High School in Rentz, Georgia. He married his beautiful bride, Dorothy, on May 15, 1954. From June 1954 to 1957, Bobby proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. In 1965, he was employed by the City of Jacksonville and retired 31 years later in 1996.

One Sunday morning in November 1962, while at Southside C.H. Church, God gloriously saved Bobby and later called him into the ministry in 1965. Bobby began pastoring his first church in December 1965 and dedicated the rest of his adult life to the ministry of the gospel and leading lost souls to Christ. He received his ordination license in 1966 and began serving the Florida District of the Congregational Holiness Church as Secretary/Treasurer from 1967-1977. Bobby later became Superintendent of the Florida District and served in that position 1977-1991 and 1994-1998. He was a wonderful, caring and loving husband, dad, provider and friend to so many.

Bobby's favorite place to retreat, with no time restraints, was in the mountains of North Carolina. It was such a special, peaceful place. Besides making needed repairs while there, Bobby enjoyed fishing, piddling around in his workshop, riding the golf cart with mom, and enjoying the fun and fellowship with his family and friends. And you can be rest-assured, Bobby always made sure the 4-wheelers and golf carts were working when the kids were coming to the mountains.

More than anything, Bobby's children are so thankful and grateful for the heritage that he and their mother have set before them, to love and serve God with all your heart, work for Him and do your best. No matter what comes and goes in life, good, bad or otherwise, hold on and continue to serve Him. He is our only help and it's worth it all! And now, Bobby is experiencing that first-hand and we will join him again soon!

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Curtis Taylor, Doyle Taylor, Dennard Taylor, and Shelby (Taylor) McCullers; and granddaughter, Trudy (Taylor) Sarman.

Left behind to cherish years of precious memories are his wife of 71 years, Dorothy (Williams) Taylor of Jacksonville, FL; children, Kevin (Michele) Taylor of Clearwater, FL, Keith (Georgeanne) Taylor of Jacksonville, FL, Karen (James) James of Lincolnton, GA, and Eric (Crystal) Taylor of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Bryan (Debbie) Taylor, LeeAnn (T.J.) Sox, Justin Taylor, Caleb James, Kristin (Cody) Griffith, and Lydia Taylor; great-grandchildren, Natalie Taylor, Lucas Taylor, Trenton Taylor, Ashlyn Sox, Kaitlyn Sox, and Jamie Lynn Griffith; sister, Gail (Taylor) Teston of Dublin, GA; as well as many extended family members and brothers and sisters in Christ.

Bobby's Homegoing Service will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Oceanway Congregational Holiness Church, 144 Cathy Jo Drive, Jacksonville, FL 32218, with Rev. Keith Taylor and Rev. Kevin Taylor officiating and Rev. Eric Taylor and Rev. James James assisting. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Jacksonville National Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of CEDAR BAY FUNERAL HOME, 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, Florida, 32218. (904) 714-1110.
