Services for Bobby Ralph Tweedy, 95, of Ada will be 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 10, 2025, at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel; Rev. Ken Wolfe will officiate. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Bob passed away Monday, November 3, 2025, at Arbuckle Memorial Hospital in Sulphur surrounded by his family. He was born on March 23, 1930, in Goodlett, Texas, to Ralph Tweedy and Edith Phillips. Bob attended grade school in Connerville and high school in Pontotoc, Oklahoma. He later earned his bachelor's degree from East Central University.
He began his career at Yager Wholesale Drugs and later taught Industrial Arts in Mt. Hope, Kansas. After returning to Ada, he worked at Richardson Buick for 30 years, and later at King Co. and the Ada Evening News until his retirement. In September 1965, Bob married the love of his life, Connie Lancaster, in Moore, Oklahoma. Their marriage was one of deep love and lasting devotion until Connie's passing on July 27, 2008, at their home in Ada.
A man of strong faith, Bob was a dedicated member of Harmony Free Will Baptist Church, where he served faithfully for many years as an usher, on the Finance Committee, and as Master Men's Treasurer for 10 years. He was also honored as Layman of the Year. For 22 years, he attended Ada First Free Will Baptist Church, where he lovingly drove the Senior Bus for two decades, ensuring others could attend worship and fellowship. Bob loved life and the people in it. He enjoyed playing dominoes and cribbage, fishing, and cheering for his beloved teams – OU, OKC, and the Dallas Cowboys. He was thrilled to witness the Oklahoma City Thunder capture the NBA Championship in 2025 - a moment he joyfully celebrated with family and friends. He also delighted in lake sports and was an expert water-skier who taught many others to ski. He took great pride in his yard and home and was known for his skillful carpentry. He loved eating fried fish, chicken fried steak, spaghetti, coconut cream pie, and oatmeal cookies. He never met a dessert he didn't like, and Folger's burger held a special place in his heart. He made many trips to Darter Sky Ranch where he witnessed the beauty and majesty of many of God's creations. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and friends, often with his loyal dog, Millie, by his side. Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army from September 1948 to September 1951, during which time he served in occupied Japan and Korea. For his valor and gallantry in action, he was awarded both the Bronze Star and the Silver Star.
Bob is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Cathy Tweedy Darter and husband Tom, Kaye Tweedy Arnold and husband David, and Thresa Shaw Ross and husband Roy. His life was richly blessed with grandchildren - Chad Darter and wife Jamie, Courtney Bruce and husband Chris, Clint Darter and wife Victoria, Josh Arnold and wife Amy, Jenni Hefton and husband Adam, Julie Arnold, and Jayci Harris Grace and husband Jacob. He was also a proud great-grandfather to McCoy, Hudson, Averley, and Coleman Bruce; Hayden, Reese, and Brooks Arnold; Tripp, Sophia, and Sally Beth Hefton; Addison, Ainsley, and Ella Darter; Breklyn and Broden Darter; and Jaylee and Averie Grace.
