Bobby Eugene Vernon
Bobby Eugene Vernon, 83, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on December 23, 2025 at Wendover Hospice House in Shelby, NC. He was born August 1, 1942 in Gaston County, NC, son of the late James Henry and Ruby Correll Vernon and was preceded in death by a daughter, Gena Vernon Cole and his siblings, Betty Ratley, Sheila Oliver, and Dot Ratley. Bobby attended Gaston County Schools as a child and later started his own landscaping business, The Yard Doctor, which he operated for many years. Bobby attended David Baptist Church with his beloved wife, Mary. He enjoyed fishing in his early years and loved to travel the United States with his family in his RV. Bobby was a dedicated provider for his family, often working multiple jobs. He never cut corners and believed anything worth doing, was worth doing right. He was an amazing landscaper, often quoting jobs by sight, without the aid of pencil and paper. Bobby loved to make people laugh. Bobby was an avid NASCAR fan who loved sharing his passion with his children. They spent many hours together watching races and cherishing the time spent with one another. He possessed a wonderful sense of humor. Those around him could not help but be happy. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and doting grandfather. He leaves behind cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him.
