Bonita "Bonnie" Marie Czaplewski, peacefully passed away on November 4, 2023, at Sugar Loaf Senior Living. She was born on March 26, 1939, in Wichita, Kansas, to Mamert and Irma (Wolfe) Eichman. Bonnie was one of nine children, and she cherished her close-knit family throughout her life.
After graduating from Arcadia High School in 1957, Bonnie embarked on a beautiful journey of love and family. She married Robert Czaplewski, and together they raised four children: William, Brenda, Lynn, and John. Bonnie was a devoted mother, whose unwavering love and support shaped the lives of her children.
Bonnie worked tirelessly throughout her life, making a positive impact in the lives of those she cared for. From her time at Sauer Heath Care, Shields Adult Care Home, and to her dedicated service at Hiawatha Homes, Bonnie's compassionate nature shone through in her work.
Outside of her professional life, Bonnie was fiercely passionate about Minnesota sports. She was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings, MN North Stars, MN Wild, and MN Twins, cheering them on with enthusiasm. Bonnie also found joy in gardening and going for long walks, relishing the beauty of nature, with her life partner, Elmer Nelson.
An active member of Pax Christi, Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, and St. Stanislaus Kostka, Bonnie's strong faith provided her with comfort and guidance throughout her journey. She took immense pride in her Polish heritage, showcasing her love through cherished family traditions like Christmas baking and her famous "Aunty Bonnie Popcorn."
Bonnie will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her warm smile and kind heart touched many lives, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion.
Bonnie is survived by her children, William (Susan), Brenda (Paul), Lynn (John), John (Shannon); grandchildren, Jenna, Bridget (Nick), Adam (Virginia), Brittney (Joshua), Adrienne, Christopher (Elsa), Julia, Nicholas; great-grandchildren, Haylee, Chase, Airabella, Jaxson, Nalah; siblings, Rose, Chris; and many cherished aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband and father to her children, Robert Czaplewski; life partner, Elmer Nelson; siblings, Sister Adrienne "Ramona", Jim, Teresa, Ruth, Helen, and Lucy.
A memorial service to celebrate Bonnie's life will be held at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 11a.m. Visitation will begin 1 hour prior to the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Sugar Loaf Senior Living Memory Care Garden.
Bonnie's family would like to give a special thanks to Sugar Loaf Senior Living and Winona Health Hospice for their kindness and outstanding care.
