Bonnie Andrus Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 18, 2025.
Our beloved mother, sister, Grandma, and Grandma Great enjoyed a joyous reunion with her

sweetheart, Darnell, and many other loved ones on November 14, 2025.

Bonnie Jane Sharp Andrus was born on September 24, 1931 to George Randolph Sharp and Jane

Delquadro Sharp in Murray, UT. She was the second daughter of four girls and three boys. She cherished

her childhood in Midvale, UT and grew up close to extended family. Out of necessity, her mother taught

her to be an exceptional seamstress. If she didn't have a pattern, she'd make one! She blessed many with

her creations of blessing dresses, blessing tuxedo's, birthday dresses and even wedding gowns.

During her childhood she developed a great love of reading. She had a great thirst for knowledge

and learned by reading many forms of media. She read the daily newspaper from the first printed word to

the very last. Many times she's cut out articles to share with those that would find the information

pertinent.

Our mom attended Midvale Elementary and Midvale Middle School. She maintained these young

friendships throughout her life. While attending Jordan High School she was a student body officer and a

very spirited Beetdigger! She also met a handsome boy from Draper, who literally swept her off her feet

with his convincing and talented dancing.

She married M. Darnell Andrus on October 27, 1949 – the beginning of an impressive posterity!

They enjoyed, dancing, bowling and cheering for BYU together, as well as traveling with mom's perfectly

planned itineraries.

They were blessed with nine children and their family continues to grow with 36 grandchildren, 94

great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren! She championed family traditions for the entire

crew! Her famous sugar cookies for Valentine's day (delivered and doorbell ditched for many years!),

family Easter egg hunts and parties for Thanksgiving and Christmas. She loved having her family

gathered together! We ALL could anticipate our birthday serenade phone call of "Happy Birthday" sung

to us, and the very loving "and many more....." that she'd add. Traditions bind the generations and that

was her goal.

Mom was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in

many capacities, always with love and engaged service. Her commitment was earnest whether it was a

president calling or chorister. There was never a more dedicated ward librarian! She was a temple worker

at the Draper Utah temple and loved her service there.

Her loving and tender heart made her a consummate care taker. Caring for and raising her nine

children and she made daily visits to help her mother when she was in a care center (smuggling in ice

cream for her) and the sole care taker for our dad for seven years after his amputation. She cared for him

with love and complete devotion until his passing in 2008.

Those of us who will miss her presence are, Jody Jenkins, Teri Jackson, Barry and Dee Andrus,

Rand and Linda Andrus, Tracy and Doug Swensen, Allison and Karl King, and Erika and Chad Iverson

and their families, as well as her brother Ted and Anita Sharp. Greeted into the eternities by her husband,

daughter Jani, son Daren, grand daughter Kami, son in law Paul, her parents and siblings, Randy, Marilyn,

Gordon, Val and Karen as well as many loved ones. She has left us with the knowledge that Families are

Forever!

While mom's stay at Brighton House was short, we're grateful for their concern and loving care

while she was there. Thank you!

Services will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day

Saints building at 12353 South 600 East, Draper, UT. Viewing and visits will be from 10:00 AM to 11:30

AM, with funeral to follow at 12:00 PM. Interment will be at the Draper City Cemetary following

services, reuniting mom and dad after nearly 17 years.

In my life, Bonnie has been a wonderful friend. We had grand fun exercising and laughing together- so many stories and memories shared with our group of aerobic girls for over 20 years. Bonnie had a way of greeting you always with open arms and I am grateful to have been able to call her my friend.
Love, Barbara Day
