Bonnie Marie Bell, 83, of Middletown, passed away on June 15, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in New Castle, IN, on June 28, 1941, to the late Olaf Otto and Lola Irene (Miller) Miller. A loving and devoted wife, mother, and friend, Bonnie lived a life filled with warmth, joy, and cherished memories, leaving behind a legacy that will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Bonnie's career was diverse, having worked in several retail settings and assisting her husband in their family carpet business. However, her true passion lay in being a homemaker, where she created a nurturing environment for her family. Bonnie was known for her exceptional culinary skills, making the best noodles and apple dumplings that brought delight to family gatherings. Her love for cooking extended to gardening and canning, where she cultivated her love for the land and the crops growing around their farm.
Beyond her culinary talents, Bonnie was a vibrant personality, characterized as ornery, stubborn, and deeply loving and caring. She was known to always keep toothpicks and tissues handy and had a unique way of brightening any room she entered, even on the hottest days when she was known to feel perpetually cold. Her spirit was contagious, and she brought laughter and light to those around her.
Family time was important to Bonnie, who loved spending weekends at their house by the Ohio River, swimming and water skiing with her loved ones. Her affection for animals was evident in her relationship with her beloved dog, Sophie, and she enjoyed riding horses and nurturing other creatures throughout her life, including Mother Mary, the barn cat with her multiple litters.
Bonnie attended the White Union Church in Honey Creek, where she shared her faith and compassion with others. She was proud of her past, having been a Sulphur Springs Bluebird cheerleader, with her cheer uniform preserved and displayed in the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame. Even into her 70s, Bonnie could still perform the splits, a testament to her enduring spirit and zest for life.
In addition to her many hobbies which included reading romance novels and watching sports—especially football and the Indianapolis Colts, with her husband—Bonnie’s kindness and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need exemplified her caring nature.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 60 years, David Bell of Middletown; children, Jama (Russ) Doyle of Middletown, Leia (Jim) Combs of Muncie, and Curtis (Gina) Bell of Yorktown; grandchildren, Jordan (Kelsey) Doyle, Lyndsey (Eric) Caldwell, Kathryn Doyle, Logan Doyle, Breanna Combs, Olivia Combs, Seth Combs, Natalie Bell and Emily Bell; great grandchild Madeline Doyle; and many close friends and neighbors.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Terry Miller and Adrienne Doyle.
