Bonnie Holbrook Brewer, age 79, passed away peacefully at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 1, 1946, in Wilkes County to Lundy and Beatrice Sidden Holbrook, Bonnie’s life was a radiant testament to faith, devotion, and unconditional love.
A devoted member of Dennyville Baptist Church, Bonnie’s days were grounded in her unwavering faith, which guided her through every season of her life. She found joy in the simple pleasures—cultivating her garden under the open sky, nurturing blooms with the same gentleness she offered to all who knew her. Most precious to her were the moments spent with her children and grandchildren, whose laughter and presence filled her heart with boundless happiness.
Bonnie’s warmth, gentle spirit, and steadfast kindness left an indelible mark on her family, church, and community. To all who knew her, she was more than a mother, grandmother, or friend—she was a source of comfort, wisdom, and enduring love.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John W. Brewer; her parents, Lundy and Beatrice Holbrook; her sisters, Helen Wyatt and Peggy Byrd; and her brothers, Edward “Bud” Holbrook, Paul Holbrook, and Kenneth Holbrook.
Bonnie’s legacy continues through those she cherished most. She is survived by her sons, Andy Brewer and wife Cynthia of Winston-Salem, and Jeff Brewer and wife Sandy of Elkin; and her daughter, Angie Freeman of Hamptonville. She was the proud and loving grandmother of Alex Freeman and wife Ashlee, Dalton Brewer, Chandler Brewer, Gracie Castro and husband Troy, Emma Spurlin and husband Graden, Ayla Brewer, KinLeigh Brewer, and Cherysh Sprinkle, and the great-grandmother of two special great-grandchildren, Addie and Aaron. She is also lovingly remembered by her niece Paula Byrd and husband Jim, and by Keith and Lori Mastin, who were embraced as family.
A visitation to honor Bonnie’s life will take place at Elkin Funeral Service on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will follow on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Dennyville Baptist Church, with Rev. Gabe Duncan and Rev. Josh Blevins officiating. Following the service, Bonnie will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.
Flowers are welcome, or donations may be made in her memory to the Dennyville Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 2713 Old Hwy 60, Ronda, NC 28670.
