Della Frances Upright

Mrs. Della Frances Swaim Upright, age 88, of Elkin, passed away Thursday evening, March 5, 2026, at her home. Mrs. Upright was born on May 20, 1937, in Yadkin County, to Everette Bahnson and Mittie Frances Salmons Swaim.

Mrs. Upright was a member of Shoaly Branch Baptist Church, where she was a member of the choir. She loved to travel and spend time with her family and friends. Professionally, she was a Registered Nurse for over 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Alexander Upright Sr., a son, Joseph Clarence Upright, and brothers, Harold Swaim, Homer Swaim, Alvin Swaim, and Sterlin Swaim.

Survivors include: a son, Carl Alexander Upright Jr. and wife Anita, of Elkin; daughters, Deborah Carlene Myers, and husband Allen, of Elkin and Karen Frances Spicer, and husband James, of Elkin; grandchildren, James Allen Myers, and wife Maggie, John Travis Myers, Kendra Nicole Park, and husband Chris; great-grandchildren, Makayla Dawn Myers, John Anakin Myers, and wife Erin, Destiny Marie Myers, Carl Atrayu Myers, Alexander Dale Myers, William Granville Myers, Andrew David Park, and Aaron James Park; great-great grandchildren, Gabreil Lucious Karalles, Jackson Able Myers, Freya Marie Myers, and Della Jean Myers.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Shoaly Branch Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Elkin Funeral Service.
