Thomas Franklin Hurt

Thomas Franklin Hurt, 92, of Elkin died Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. 

Mr. Hurt was born May 30th, 1933, in Wilkes County to John William and Viola Byrd Hurt. He was a lifelong farmer/gardener and worked for 22 years at Chatham Manufacturing.

In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by a sister, Disa Ann Wishon, a brother-in-law, John Wishon, and a nephew, Al Poplin.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lutricia Hurt, of the home; a brother, Bill Hurt and wife Mary of Mooresville; a sister, Myrtle Poplin and husband Bob of Ronda; several nieces and nephews, and special niece, Debbie Wagoner and husband Gary of Elkin, and a special friend, Kathy Landry of Elkin.

A Graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, February 27, 2026, at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Mike Smith officiating.
