Bonnie Brockhouse Obituary

Bonnie "Susie" Mason Brockhouse, 81, of Beaumont, died peacefully in her home on Saturday, November 29, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. She was born on May 3, 1944, in New Brighton, Pennsylvania, to Bonnie Lou Ours and Ralph Andrew Mason, Sr.

Bonnie lived a life defined by quiet selflessness. She placed the needs of others before her own, not out of obligation, but out of genuine love. Her simple acts of kindness – often unseen but deeply felt – made an extraordinary difference in the lives around her.

For more than thirty years, she worked in the Mother's Day Out programs of Forest Park, Wesley, and Trinity Methodist churches, lovingly caring for babies and toddlers. She also watched children in her home and was a trusted babysitter for numerous families throughout Beaumont. Over the decades, she became a second mother to many children who were fortunate enough to be under her care, including the children and grandchildren of Mike and Sharon Dodson, her "Texas family."

She also devoted many years to volunteering at Forest Park United Methodist Church, and her faith remained a quiet, steady part of her life as her health declined. Bonnie lived the values of her faith every day through kindness, service, and love.

Her greatest joy was found in her family. She lovingly cared for her grandchildren while her daughters worked and seldom missed a single school program, sporting event, or milestone. Bonnie was the true heart of her family-steadfast, supportive, and endlessly proud of her children and grandchildren. She taught them the meaning of compassion, humility, and resilience simply by the way she lived her life. Her home was always open, her arms always ready to comfort, and her heart always big enough to hold everyone who needed her.

Bonnie was known for her kind nature and gentle personality, and the grace with which she faced every season of her life. Even in the midst of her illness, she displayed remarkable strength, dignity, and gratitude. Her legacy lives in her grandchildren and the many other children that she cared for, the families she supported, and everyone who was blessed to be loved by her.

Survivors include her children, Jodi Lynn Chambers of Beaumont and Tacie Lynn Lawrence and her husband, Greg, of Beaumont; grandchildren, Austin O'Niel Chambers of Houston, Jared Michael Chambers, Christopher David Lawrence, and Elizabeth Catherine Lawrence, all of Beaumont; siblings, Karen Mason Orr and her husband, John, of New Hampshire; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Susie is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Ralph Andrew Mason, Jr.

The family would like to thank her dear friends and the many families whose children she cared for over the years. Their love brought her great joy. And a special thank-you is extended to the hospice caregivers who supported Bonnie and her family during her illness with compassion and tenderness.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Forest Park United Methodist Church, 225 South Major Drive, Beaumont, Texas 77707, in honor of Susie's years of service and her deep love for her church family.

A gathering of Ms. Brockhouse's family and friends will begin 12:00 p.m. with her funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her cremation arrangements will be handled through Broussard's Crematorium.
