Cecil Marie Lawson, age 95 of Sneedville. Went home to be with the Lord on Friday 16th, 2022 at her home with her family by her side. Cecil was saved at a young age on January 12th, 1940 and was a member of Big Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Cecil was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a faithful prayer warrior for all she loved praying hedges high around her family for protection and happiness for all she loved. Cecil loved to quilt and to garden. She always wanted to care for all those around her with food, love, and kindness. She will be missed and cherished by all who knew her. We will always love you Mommy.

She was preceded in Death by her loving husband, William Lawson; children, Mary Jane Patterson and David Lawson; grandson, David Lee Lawson; parents, Charlie and Mary Roberts; and several brothers and sisters.

Cecil is survived by her children, Sonny Lawson, Jackie (Kaye) Lawson, Johnny (Darlene) Lawson, Judy (JB) Brewer, Betty Fleenor, Opal (Ray) Dillon, Vickie Brooks, Roger (Jamie) Lawson, Brenda (Scott) Cox, and Jimmy (Pam) Lawson; and 91 grand, great, and great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Elmer Roberts; sister, Joyce (Leroy) Royston; and a host of other family and friends.

The family would like to express gratitude to Avalon Hospice, Hancock County Home Health, and her special nurses, granddaughters Tabby Gibson and Marie Bryant.

Cecil will lay in state Monday, December 19th, 2022 from 8am to 4pm in the McNeil Funeral Home Chapel. Family will receive friends Monday, December 19th,2022 from 5 to 8pm at McNeil Funeral Home. Family and friends will meet at Big Creek Missionary Baptist Church Tuesday, December 20th, 2022 at 2pm for the funeral service officiated by Rev. David Seals and Tristan Pettiecord. Following the service family and friends will travel to Lawson Family Cemetery for the interment.
