Bonnie Humphrey Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jan. 17, 2025.
Bonnie K. Humphrey Kittner, age 76, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2024. Bonnie was born in Pomona, California, to the late Dorothy Lee Barker and the late Frank Edwin Schmittling.
Bonnie spent most of her adult life in Nashville. She worked as a manager at the famous Gold Rush in its heyday and was a loving nanny to Margaret Virginia and Harlan, Jr. She worked for many families across Nashville and her acerbic wit and scowl always blossomed into a generous smile - if she thought you were worthy. Bonnie didn't suffer fools. Rumor has it that Dan Fogelberg was a deep admirer and asked Bonnie to move with him to California. She refused. It wasn't part of the plan. Bonnie loved her many animals and she is proceeded in death by her faithful dog, Scottie. She leaves her cat, Pi, to grieve her passing along with many of her lifelong friends.
A special shout out to Susan, James. Ben, Charles, Kristine, Megan, and Margaret for making her last several months comfortable. She greatly appreciated the care she received at Vanderbilt and wanted to especially thank Dr. Sally York and Emily Skotte, and Dr. Christina Fiske. We are also thankful to Alive Hospice for giving her a place to find her final peace. In memory of Bonnie, please consider a donation to a local animal rescue.
