Bonnie Mae Wilson Hammonds

Bonnie Hammonds 1926-2018 Gastonia – Bonnie Mae Wilson Hammonds, 91, passed away peacefully on November 6th surrounded by her loving family at her residence. She was born in Hayesville, NC on December 17, 1926 to the late Homer and Emma Worley Wilson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Odell Hammonds; her children, Odell, Jr., Otis, William, Tommy and grandson, Dennis Hammonds. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be greatly missed. Bonnie had the strongest faith and loved going to church. She enjoyed singing, reading and her trips to the Mountains. Bonnie was a people person and didn't meet a stranger – she was a "mom and grandmother" to everyone! Left to cherish her memories includes her children, Ronald "Red" Hammonds (Kay); Jessie Woodell, Ruby McGugan (Harold); Diane Hedrick (Jimmy) and Sharon Hammonds; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great grandchildren The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 9th prior to the Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 p.m., Friday at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home with Reverend David Gardner and Reverend Danny Gardner officiating. Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park with the releasing of the doves.
