Bonnie Poorman Obituary

Bonnie J. Poorman

October 17, 1949 - November 22, 2024

Bellefonte, Pennsylvania - Bonnie Jean Poorman, 75, of Runville passed away suddenly at Mt. Nittany Medical Center on Friday, November 22, 2024. Born on October 17, 1949, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late Samuel R. and H. Louise (Breon) McKinley. On October 6, 1973, in Milesburg, she married David L. Poorman who survives at home.

Bonnie was a 1967 graduate of Bald Eagle Area High School. She was of the Protestant faith. She was employed at a variety of businesses such as Penn Traffic, Hallmark card shop, and The Budget Plan before making a loving home for her family.

Bonnie enjoyed crafting, flowers, reading, nature, pets, wildlife, playing games, and spending time with family and friends. She loved shopping excursions with her daughter and attending her son's performances. She enjoyed vacationing in Maine and looking for sea glass on the beach for many an hour. She loved making traditional family recipes passed down from her dear mother and her Great Aunt Blanche, who was like a grandmother to her. She had a delightful sense of humor and was a bit of a trickster, a quality inherited from her father. She had a knack for finding the perfectly sized box or container for any item or food, one of her many magical abilities. She cherished life's little wonders like pinecones and acorns.

Bonnie is survived by her husband of 51 years, Dave. Truly equal partners, Bonnie and Dave were seldom apart and always held hands as they walked through life together. She is also survived by one daughter, Jessica R. Poorman (who has a heart as tender as her mother's) and her fiancé Jason Hampton (who was loved as one of the family) of Centre Hall, one son, Jason L. Poorman of Runville (who will treasure every similarity he shares with his mom), and one sister, Connie L. McKinley of Bellefonte (whom she loved and talked with every day). She is also survived by her best friend since the 8th grade, Susan Dingle of Mont Alto. Bonnie will also be sorely missed by her loving tabby cat Wendel.

Along with her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by an infant son, Matthew D. Poorman.

All services will be private.

Memorial donations in Bonnie's name may be made to Centre Wildlife Care, 156 Natural Way, Port Matilda, PA 16870.

As I read this beautiful obituary, I couldn´t help but pull together some memories of my own to share.
I met Bonnie while attending Jason´s performances. I always looked forward to talking with her after the show, and fondly remember her glowing proudness and rave reviews at each event. Eventually, our friendship grew. She gifted me her amazing haluski during hard times and then, when I moved across the country she sent greeting cards, trinkets that reminded her of me, and many thoughts and hugs via texts from Jason. She was so thoughtful and kind. An inspiration and mother to all.

I´ve been thinking of her a lot these last weeks and I will continue to think of her when I see Pyrex in a thrift store, when I look at the little glass bird that´s a permanent fixture in my dining room window, and when I hang ornaments on my Valentine´s tree. I´ll think of her when I read the books she bought my daughter, who she got a real kick out of.

I´ll miss you checking in on me, Mama P, seeing photos of you enjoying New England time with Jason, and your sweet little holiday window displays. My thoughts and love to the whole Poorman family.
