KINGS MOUNTAIN- Bonnie Evans Reece, an inspiring pillar of the community, passed away peacefully, on December 7, 2025, at the age of 80. She was born on July 6, 1945, at Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem, NC, and grew up in the tobacco farming community of Yadkin County. Bonnie was renowned for her giving spirit and kind heart.
Bonnie's professional journey began as a key punch operator, with Fiber Industries (AKA: Celanese), and later branched out to bookkeeping, for Royster Oil Company. Her quest for knowledge drove her to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management, from Gardner Webb University (1988). However, it was her role as the Register of Deeds for Cleveland County that brought her the greatest joy. From June 1995 to May 2016, Bonnie served the community with integrity and grace, leaving a lasting impact that will be remembered by many.
Bonnie enjoyed gardening flowers and blueberries. Her melodious voice was a gift to the church choir, and her skillful piano playing brought joy to all who heard it. Bonnie loved to travel, and was always eager to embark on a new adventure. Her faith was her guiding light, and she was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Kings Mountain, since 1990, where she taught a Women’s Sunday School Class. Before that, she enriched lives as an Acteen youth leader, at New Hope Baptist Church, in Earl.
Preceded in death by her parents, William Pholton Evans and Annie Wagoner Evans; her beloved husband of 59 years, Davis "Don" Reece; and her brother, Carl Evans, Bonnie leaves behind a legacy of love in her surviving family: her daughter, Deborah Wilson and husband Mark; and grandchildren Daniel Christopher Payne and Rachel Lauren Wilson.
A funeral service to celebrate Bonnie's life will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Kings Mountain, officiated by pastor Dr. John “Chip” Sloan. The family will welcome friends an hour prior to the service, at the church. A private burial will follow for family members.
Bonnie Evans Reece embodied what it means to live a faith-fueled life full of love, generosity, and an ever-present willingness to uplift others. Her legacy of kindness and devotion will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate to know her.
