KINGS MOUNTAIN- Lawrence "Richard" Hamm, born on August 27, 1942, in Cleveland County, North Carolina, has passed away in the place he called home. He was a kind-hearted soul, a good man who touched the lives of all who knew him. Richard embraced life with a spirit of adventure and love, finding joy in the simple pleasures and the beauty of the world around him.
Richard was a devoted husband to his beloved wife Susan, and a good father to his sons, Jeff and wife Jody and Rusty. Alongside their families, he shared laughter and cherished memories that will forever be held dear. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Courtney Clontz, Lea Crowder, Colton Hamm, and Keiffer Hamm, who admired him greatly. He also leaves behind a precious great-granddaughter, Sofie Clontz, whose smile always brought light into his days.
A man of varied interests, Richard could often be found on the golf course, perfecting his swing and savoring the company of friends. He had a passion for playing pool, where his competitive spirit made every game an exciting challenge. Perhaps most endearing was his love for nature, as he walked the trails with his loyal canine companions, finding peace and solace in the outdoors.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, John and Bertie Hamm, as well as his brothers, Bill and Roger Hamm. Their memories were a constant source of strength and inspiration to him.
A Gathering of Friends to celebrate Richard's life will take place on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home in Kings Mountain, North Carolina. It will be a time to share stories, offer comfort, and remember a man who lived life fully and loved deeply.
In our hearts, Richard will remain a guiding light, reminding us to stay active, cherish our loved ones, and embrace each day with gratitude and grace.
