Bonnie Hagen Rizzo, age 70, a Plainfield, IL resident since 2000, formerly of Berwyn and Downers Grove, IL, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2025, at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL. She was born on December 4, 1954, in Oak Park, IL.

Beloved wife of Joseph M. "Joe" Rizzo, whom she married July 3, 1982, loving mother of Jeffrey (Jacqueline) Rizzo and Katelyn Rizzo, both of Plainfield, adored grandmother of Jane and Joey Rizzo, devoted daughter of the late Mark Hagen and Shirley (nee Bedrava) Christopoulos, dear sister of Debbie (the late Gary) Bradley of Bolingbrook, IL, Lee (the late Byron) Melton of Romeoville, IL and the late Raymond (Teresa) Hagen, sister-in-law of Rosemary (Donald) Stevens, Jerry Rizzo, Cindy (Bruce) Richards and David Rizzo, fond niece, cousin aunt, great-aunt and friend of many.

Bonnie Lou Hagen Rizzo was born Oak Park, IL and spent much of her childhood in Downers Grove, IL with her mother (Shirley), father (Mark), and her three siblings (Ray, Debbie, and Lee). While in high school, Bonnie and her family moved to Berwyn, IL.

Bonnie stayed in the Berwyn area after high school and spent her time working for the Illinois Department of Conservation (now Department of Natural Resources) focusing on conservation and tourism. As a self-declared "hippie", Bonnie loved to help educate others on the State's natural resources and help out in conservation efforts across the many state parks in the area.

Shortly after high school Bonnie met her beloved husband Joseph (Joe), and the two wed in 1982. They stayed in Berwyn and had two children, Jeffrey (Jeff) and Katelyn (Katie). Bonnie and family were active parishioners of St. Odilo Catholic Church, where the children attended grammar school. Bonnie loved to volunteer in any capacity serving on many of the school and church committees as well as becoming a beloved Girl Scout Troop Leader. The family moved from Berwyn to Plainfield, IL in 2000 and Bonnie continued her volunteer efforts there as well. She supported the Plainfield Band Boosters and particularly loved to help with and participate in their annual craft show.

Bonnie loved her family greatly and was constantly supporting her children in their interests often times driving for hours to bring them to baseball, soccer, figure skating or band events. Bonnie stepped away from some of her volunteer efforts in the mid 2000's to assist her mother Shirley in her medical recovery from a stroke. Along with her sister Debbie, she dedicated much of her time to assisting her mother until Shirley's passing in 2013.

Bonnie loved to spend time with her grandchildren whenever possible. She often volunteered to watch the children engaging them with tales from her childhood as well as countless story books, coloring, and endless amounts of Lego sets. She also reprised her volunteer roles with Girl Scouts and the Plainfield School District, this time taking on assistant Girl Scout Troop Lead for Jane's troop and donating time and supplies to the Parent Teacher Organization for the grandchildren's school. She continued to support these efforts until her passing due to complications from diabetes.

Services times are pending.
