Bonnie Weedman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home on Mar. 30, 2026.
Bonnie L. "Granny" Weedman, 85, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026, surrounded by her family at her residence in Newtonville, Indiana.

She was born on January 5, 1941, in Grandview, Indiana, to the late Roy and Nellie (VanWinkle) Mullen. Bonnie attended Troy High School, where she was a spirited cheerleader and proudly crowned Homecoming Queen.

On October 20, 1958, she was united in marriage to Cecil Weedman. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to their family. From 1970 to 1973, she and Cecil owned and operated a general store, and she also worked at the post office from 1971 to 1972.

Affectionately known as "Granny" by all who loved her, Bonnie was the heart of her family. Nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also lovingly cared for many children over the years, treating each one as her own. Bonnie enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, fishing, skipping rocks (a skill she delighted in teaching her family), tending to her flower garden, and watching over her cherished hummingbirds. She took great pride in her home and created a warm, welcoming place for all who entered.

She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Cecil Weedman of Evanston, Indiana; her five children, Pam (Brian) Vaal of St. Meinrad, Cecilia (Kent) Recker of Philpot, Kentucky, Debra (Scott) Beavin of Hawesville, Kentucky, Kim (Jimmy) Smith of Hawesville, Kentucky, and Cecil Weedman, Jr. of Evanston; her sister, Nancy (Lynall) Rust of Newtonville, Indiana; her brothers, Bud Mullen of Newtonville, Tom Mullen of Rockport, and Randy (Max) Mullen of Hawesville, Kentucky; and 15 grandchildren, Crystal Parker, Anthony Patmore, Kevin, Chris, Justin, and Cody Weatherholt, Victoria Wheatley, Kyle Beavin, Timmy and Michael Smith, Tyler Weedman, Summer Gogel, Aliyah and Garrett VanWinkle, and Tristan Weedman, along with 38 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Clyde, Jerry, Joe, and Donnie Mullen, and a sister, Linda "Sue" Snyder.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Troy City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Association.
