Gastonia - Boyce Maynard Redding, 87, passed away peacefully at his residence on October 18, 2024 at his residence surrounded by his. family.
He was born in Gaston County on September 10, 1937 to the late Richard and Lona Redding. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Michael Boyce Redding and his beloved wife, Beatrice Joan Carver Redding; nephews, Charles and Samuel Redding.
Boyce was a graduate of Gastonia High School, class of 1956, and attended CPCC. He retired from the US Postal Service after 32 years. Boyce was also the co-owner and operator of Redding Marble. He also worked part-time for the funeral home. Boyce was a dedicated member of South Marietta Street Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school and served as a Deacon. He also taught Sunday school for over 30 years at Brookdale Place on Robinwood. He was past member and past president of the East Gastonia Lyons Club, past president of the Gaston County Heart Association, past member of the State Board of Grant Funding. Boyce will be remembered for his dedicated service to his community and the love he showed to all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his children, Eric Eugene Redding (Cheryl) and Phillip Andrew Redding; brother, Dean Redding (Faye); daughter-in-law, Liz Redding; grandchildren, Tabitha Sparks, Austin Redding, and Nicholas Redding, Zach Cash, Nicholas Cash, Holly Allison Chaplain, and Hannah Jennings; and his great-grandchildren, Hayden Sparks, Sophia Sparks, and Michael Sparks; niece, Jane Hannah.
Family and friends will gather from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2024 at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery in Gastonia.
