Linda Barnes Benoit, 83, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026 at the Magnolia Manor Hospice House in York, South Carolina with her loving family by her side.

She was born in High Point, North Carolina on March 27, 1942 to the late Clayton and Ora Barnes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 35 years, John Edward Benoit; son, Timothy Barnes; and brother, Stevie Barnes.

Linda was a devout Christian and very active in her church, Lake Wylie Christian Assembly of God. She later also attended the Riverwood Worship Center. Her early years were spent taking care of her home and family. Her family, especially her grandchildren, were her world. She also loved her late Chihuahua, Zoe. Linda leaves many happy memories to be cherished by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her children, John T. Benoit (Christie) and Blake Freeman (Wayne); step-son, Steve Benoit (Leighanne); siblings, Ronnie Barnes, Larry Barnes, Ernestine Younts, and Rosemary Deaton; grandchildren, Travis Benoit, Emma Benoit, Ashley Church, Ashley Moore, Emily Turner; and her step-grandchildren, Ashleigh Benoit and Stephanie Williams.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Lake Wylie Christian Assembly of God, 5766 Charlotte Highway, Lake Wylie, South Carolina 29710. Pastor Lewis Gunn and Pastor Kenny Gunn will officiate.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family for her medical expenses.
