Boyd Henry "Scott" Hammaker

Boyd Henry "Scott" Hammaker, 83, of Nashville, died Thursday, Oct. 12, after two months battling a series of illnesses. Mr. Hammaker, a Pennsylvania native, had lived in Nashville for 37 years. During that time he was self-employed as a graphic designer, party deejay. and photographer.
Mr. Hammaker was born on Oct. 16, 1939 in Lewistown, PA. His parents, Dr. Boyd H. and Patricia (McKnight) Hammaker preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Lewistown High School and Syracuse University where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
Prior to coming to Nashville, he worked in California and Indiana as a greeting card designer. He also worked as a radio DJ in Evansville, IN and operated the Tides East Bookstore in Newburgh, IN, where he was a seminar leader in New Age topics.
Mr. Hammaker is survived by his wife of 36 years, Debra Zimmerman.
He was a pet lover, especially of the feral kittens he adopted and took care of for more than a dozen years. In lieu of flowers, friends can make donations to the Nashville Humane Association. https://nashvillehumane.org/
The family cordially invites relatives and friends to gather and visit at Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Road in Nashville, on Thursday, October 19 from twelve o'clock noon until two o'clock in the afternoon when the Celebration of Life Communal Sharing service will commence. Everyone is encouraged to bring their best story to share at the service. The committal service will immediately follow.
