Paul "Butch" Vander Linden, Jr. was born on February 3, 1949 in Knoxville, Iowa to Paul E. and Betty (Polito) Vander Linden. Paul was raised and worked on the family farm in Marion County and graduated from Twin Cedars High School, class of 1967, and also attended Iowa State University for a short time. After college Butch farmed and worked at Romar Distributing. Since 1996 he worked for Pella Corp. Butch enjoyed being with his family and friends, sprint car racing, and farming. He was a member of the Marion County 4H and Fair Board and the Three Trees Group at the Marion County Fair. On January 5, 1975 at the Knoxville Methodist Church Butch and Leslie Redding were married. They shared 35 years of marriage and were blessed with two children Kenny and Tiffani. Butch passed away at his home on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at the age of 61 years, six months, and 16 days. Butch was preceded in death by his father, Paul Vander Linden; father-in-law Roy Redding; and one niece Marilyn Murphy. Butch is survived by his wife Leslie Vander Linden; two children, Kenny (Stephanie) Vander Linden and Tiffani (Tom) Weldon all of Knoxville; and 11 grandchildren Melana, Dalton, Tyler, Kortney, Lane, Jayden, Jordyn, Racheal, Zach, Chad, and Amie. Butch is also survived by his mother Betty Vander Linden of Huxley; mother-in-law, Rosalie Redding; and one sister, Carolyn Murphy both of Knoxville; and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial will be established in Butch's name at a later date.
