Brad Bucklin was born to Dawn and Duane Bucklin in the small town of Cascade, Michigan, just a few miles east of Grand Rapids, on August 18, 1977. Brad was 46 years old living in Bay City, Michigan, when he passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2024.
Brad attended Forest Hills Central High School in Cascade, Michigan. His journey through life was marked by a deep commitment to learning and a passion for storytelling. He possessed a remarkable ability to excel in any endeavor he pursued, often achieving near-professional levels of skill through his determination and self-taught talents. Brad had a particular affinity for computer technology, where he demonstrated a natural aptitude and became proficient in various aspects of the field.
During his military career, Brad served with distinction, spending several years deployed in Afghanistan and Iraq, where he saw his fair share of combat. He supervised team members, provided technical guidance to soldiers, and played a crucial role in the receipt, storage, maintenance, and supply of ammunition, missiles, and other explosive items. Brad's dedication, leadership, and commitment to excellence were evident throughout his service.
In addition to his military service, Brad volunteered with the Office of Public Affairs and served as a writer for the Mountain Post Fort Carson, Colorado. In this role, he helped to tell the stories of soldiers' spouses and their contributions to the Brigade and unit while their loved ones were deployed in combat zones. Brad's efforts aimed to bring comfort and positive information back to the soldiers to boost morale and show support from local communities, helping spouses strengthen their marriages during challenging times.
Brad will be fondly remembered for his creative storytelling, his love for his twin brother Brock, and his unwavering loyalty to his family and friends. He held a deep respect for the military and was a passionate supporter of organizations like the Folds of Honor. Brad's willingness to lend a helping hand and his genuine concern for others left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his children, Jamie Holt, Brock Bucklin, and Carson Bucklin; his mother, Dawn; his father, Duane; his grandmother, Nelly Varner; his sister, Becky Cummings; his brothers, Pete and Wayne; his niece, Elizabeth and Cara, nephew Cash and a host of other relatives and friends who will cherish his memory.
Preceding Brad in passing was his older brother Shawn, his twin brother Brock and his nephew Jacob.
Though Brad may have left this world, his legacy of love, compassion, and dedication will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

One thing I can say about Brad, is that he was as loyal as any person could be. As my stock control NCOIC in Afghanistan and in Colorado. I could depend on Buck (Brad) to give a 100 percent in everything he did. He made sure that I was squared away as the accountable Officer both deployed and while we ran Fort Carson ASP. Buck was my little brother and I loved that dude, if there was anyone I would go into battle with, it would be him. Because one is for sure, we he has your back, he has your back 100!!

Brad you will be missed my brother, much love to you.

Big Chief!

We both got to Fort Carson around the same time. He was quirky yet always ready to lend a helping hand. He and I volunteered to write for The Mountaineer newspaper. Spent countless hours working with the FRG together. And many a time going through the mountains on a Friday after work. And many hours linked up on call of duty.

I don´t even know where to begin with this question. Maybe the first day of 6th grade. You decided to turn my life upside down that day. I would never be the same again. Many ups and downs but so many memories. You were one of my best friends. 32 years of friendship is a very long time. From creating my career, to bonfires at the park, listening to me, and never judging. Where do I go from here. I will visit you often. Miss you!!!
