Brad McNealy Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Scott's Chapel Hill Mortuary - Dothan from Sep. 29 to Oct. 1, 2025.
Brad McNealy, a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend, graced this world with his presence on July 12, 1968, and took his gentle departure from this life on September 26, 2025. Born and raised under the warm skies of Alabama, he shared his final sunset in the same beloved state.
Brad, the fourth child of Viretta and Buford McNealy, grew up surrounded by his devoted family. He walked through life alongside his parents and his siblings: Buford McNealy Jr. and his wife Lisa, Paula McNealy, Bruce McNealy and his wife Jean, Tammy McNealy Davenport, Bryant McNealy and his wife Morgan, and Gina Grice King. Their familial bond was the fabric of their collective story, woven with love, laughter, and shared memories.
His aunts and uncles-Willie James Hill, Earnest McNealy, Marian Hill, Jacket Hill, Sharon McNealy Bonnie Hill, and Minnie Hill-also played significant roles in his life, cherishing every moment they spent together. Brad's light shone brightly on his nieces and nephews: Kenny, Kylin, Ireland, Ian, Matesha, India, Asia, Reginald Cook, Shannon Cook, Courtney McNealy, Treyvon'tae McNealy, Jereil (Vivan) McNealy, Connie McNealy, Natosha (Donald) Pittman, Sam, Shilitha, Jessie, Bianca, Clarissa McDonald, Theresa Smith, Isiah, Emanuel Davenport, Zachary Devine, Markis McCray, and BJ McNealy. Each of them held a special place in his heart, as he did in theirs.
Not only was Brad's familial circle wide, but so was his network of friends, including those at Culpeper Group Home and Wesley Way, with notable bonds shared with Bobby McCloud, Aurthrean Mitchell, and Brenda Gayle Carroll. Their companionship provided Brad with enduring friendship and unforgettable moments of joy and togetherness.
An easygoing soul, Brad approached life with an unflappable calm and a characteristic response to any inquiry of his well-being: "Oh yeah," he would say with his trademark optimism. His passions were manifold, from the discipline of karate to the thrill of bowling and the camaraderie of baseball. His affinity for cooking mirrored his approach to life: mixing the ingredients of simplicity, patience, and a dash of spontaneity to create moments to be savored.
To know Brad was to understand the true essence of kindness. His steady demeanor and unwillingness to complain were lessons in grace and resilience. Through his actions and the quiet contentment of his spirit, he taught us that life's richness lies not in material possessions or grandiose achievements, but in the steadfast love we share, the friendships we nurture, and the simple pleasures we enjoy.
As we bid farewell to Brad, we celebrate a life lived with gentle strength and unfaltering love. His memories, a cherished keepsake, will continue to inspire and comfort those he leaves behind. Heaven has indeed gained a compassionate spirit, and while we will miss his physical presence, his gentle legacy will remain an everlasting beacon that guides us through our own journeys.
