Brad Woydziak, 70, devoted son, husband, and father, died Friday, May 10, 2024. Always with a flair for being mischievous and making everyone laugh. He was always up for a good time with a funny prank up his sleeve. He spread his love generously to those close to him and provided unwavering support to his family and friends that couldn't be denied.
Brad played basketball in high school at Bishop Carroll. He helped his parents at Dog-N-Shake and liked to go help his grandpa farm in the summers. Brad had many jobs throughout his life including working for Duling Construction, Star Lumber, Pawnee Plastics, Kansas Gas Service and finally retiring April 1, 2009, from ONEOK, Inc, a natural gas company. He and Kurt Chambers drove the "Wind Wagon" to New York City for the Macy's Day Parade in a semi.
First date with Barbara Lynes was at a Bishop Carroll/North High School football game. They were married in 1979 and were blessed with three children, Frank in 1980, Sandy in 1981, and Dan in 1984.
Brad farmed and ranched for 38 years, enjoying raising cattle and spending days and nights swathing and baling hay. He also enjoyed coaching his boys in basketball and baseball. He loved to watch his kids and his grandkids play sports. One of many highlights in Brad's life was bowling a 300 game. Another sport that he was passionate about was golf. In addition to sports, he loved to dove and pheasant hunt with his dogs. Brad had a boat most of his life and took pleasure in going to the lake, with Table Rock being his favorite. Relaxing and drinking a "cold one" on the porch is where you could often times find him.
Dad demonstrated how to care for family and be a good man. He was a coach, role model, and someone we could go to for advice. We worked and laughed together. If we become half the man he was, we will be doing great.
Preceded in death by his father, Gerald Woydziak; brothers, Gerald Woydziak, Jr. and Gene Woydziak.
Survived by his mother, Marie Woydziak; wife of 45 years, Barbara A. Woydziak; children, Frank (Liz) Woydziak, Sandy (Jeremy) Massey and Dan Woydziak; grandchildren, Addie, Jayden, Brinley and Carter.
Rosary will be at 7:00 pm, Tuesday, May 14, 2024, with Funeral Mass at 10:30 am, on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, both at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Graveside service will be at 4:00 pm, Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at the St. Catherine's Catholic Cemetery in Dubuque, Kansas.

I met Brad in 1975 while we were both working at Star Lumber. I can´t remember where we met but I would think it is highly probable it was at the Oasis Lounge. Brad taught me how to water ski and drive and maintain a boat while vacationing at Table Rock lake. He invited me to go along on a pheasant hunting trip in western Kansas. I´ll always be thankful for Brad´s friendship.
