Bradley Jon Huff, 63, of South Bend, formerly of Elkhart, Indiana, passed away on Friday, June 23, 2023, peacefully at his home. Brad was born on Feb. 17, 1960, in Elkhart to Philip and Geraldine (LaMontagne) Huff.
Brad spent his childhood years on Myers Avenue in Elkhart. He attended school primarily at Aux Chandelles and graduated through the Concord school system. We all need support throughout our lives, but Brad needed and received a high level of unwavering support from his mother and father. Brad lived most of his adult years in group homes, spending his last years on Lark Street in South Bend where he found another home. The family would like to express their appreciation to all those who supported Brad in his journey including his group homes, Logan Center, and his friend and champion for 16 years, Sherry Bailey.
Those who knew Brad were aware at his persistence in obtaining his wants, especially Mountain Dew. Brad had a mischievous grin and loved to tease. Brad enjoyed outings of all sorts: restaurants, shops, the beach and movies. He vacationed "up north" in the family cabin in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
Brad is survived by his brother Brett Michael Huff of Elkhart; Aunt Helen (Bob) Miller Strang of Syracuse, Indiana, and cousin Kathy Bahr of New Jersey. Brad was an affectionate member of a group of cousins who call themselves "Pappy's Kids." Members include Susie (Jim) Lamb, Terri Robinson, Pat (Michael) Schaefer, Denny (Lorna) Schori, Roger Schori, Jon Schori, Cindi (Harold) Umbaugh, Steve (Gloria) Miller and Debbie (Roy) Burkholder. His parents and brother Scott Huff preceded him in death.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 12, at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Donations in memory of Brad may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, 1108 S.
