Bradley Dean Stewart concluded his earthly journey with a sudden and peaceful passing at his home, with his wife by his side, on November 29, 2025.
Brad was born on May 4, 1958, in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He was raised in faith by his parents, Gordon and LaJune Stewart, and spent his formative years alongside his three younger brothers, learning from their father to marvel at the wonder and mechanics of the physical world.
As a young man, Brad served an honorable mission in Scotland, where he formed relationships that shaped the course of his life. Through those dear connections, he met his wife, Janet Bates, and their eternal journey began on April 29, 1982 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together, they welcomed two daughters, Megan and Alicia.
Brad was the flagship of fathers. From their earliest days, his daughters' lives were filled with wonder, lightheartedness, safety, gentleness, and love in the home he and Janet created. Quiet and reserved, Brad often found himself followed by small children-his daughters (even as adults), nieces and nephews, neighborhood kids, and most recently, his beloved grandchildren. He taught us to hunt for rocks, grow vegetables, dive into gloriously messy crafts, seek sea glass, revel in wild storms, watch the moon, and savor the beauty and richness of the world around us.
Brad had a brilliant mind, a knack for numbers, and an astute understanding of many subjects. He worked as a civil engineer for Salt Lake City Public Utilities for the duration of his 42 -year career, a role that energized him. He was respected not only for his technical expertise but also for his kindness and humility. In both professional and religious settings, Brad earned the admiration of others through his quiet strength and steady confidence– he never sought recognition, position, or power.
Brad lived a life of profound faith and devoted discipleship to Jesus Christ. He served wherever he was asked, for as long as he was needed. His goodness and wisdom were evidence of a man who knew the Savior and followed Him with unflinching faith. His final years were enriched as he worked as a service missionary with his wife in the Church's Natural Resource Department.
Brad was deeply loved and respected, and he will be profoundly missed. He leaves us with the greatest gifts-precious memories and a legacy of diligent, humble faith that we are honored to carry forward.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Janet; their daughters, Megan Stewart and Alicia Anderson (Axel); and his cherished grandchildren, Andie and Ford. He is also survived by his brothers, Douglas (Julee), Rodney (Kathy), Kevin (Caren) Stewart. He will be fondly remembered by many loved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and LaJune Stewart.
