SHELBY: Brandon Russell Ropp, of Shelby, North Carolina, born December 4th, 1996, passed away unexpectedly following a tragic accident. He was 28 years old.
A Beloved Son, Father, Brother, Uncle, and Friend, Brandon had a spirit that was both bold and kind. He was known for his strong personality, his quick wit, and the big heart he carried beneath a tough exterior. He deeply loved his family, stood up for the people he cared about, and always tried to find his way back to the things that mattered most.
Brandon never stopped fighting to grow, to do better, and to rebuild. He was doing his best to move forward and create something new.
Brandon leaves behind his son, Oaklyn Russell Ropp, and his daughter, “Nellie” Harley Raynell Ropp, and two little girls who called him by “Bo”— his greatest sources of pride. He is survived by his father, Rusty Ropp and his significant other, Mary Routh, and mother, Bonita Thomas, and her husband,Charles Thomas.
He is also survived by his brother, Austin Ropp and wife, Taylor Ropp, and his sweet niece, Emery Claire Ropp, three step siblings, Casey, Cutter, and Chance. He leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly.
Brandon’s story is one of both struggle and strength, and the love he gave along the way will always be remembered.
A memorial service to honor Brandon will be held on Sunday, August 10th, 2025 at 3:00PM, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00-3:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Brandon’s memory by offering grace to someone in need, showing up for those you love, or simply taking a moment to tell someone what they mean to you.
