Brenda Bernholt

Brenda Bernholt passed away peacefully on November 19, 2025 at her home in Versailles, Ohio surrounded by her family just three days after her 77th birthday. She was born in Harlan, Kentucky to the late Ballard and Cleeta (Reed) Engle on November 16, 1948.

Brenda spent nearly 30 years as a devoted nurse at Middletown Regional Hospital/Atrium. Her dedication, skill, and compassion were recognized with the prestigious Florence Nightingale Award, an honor her family was incredibly proud of as it reflected the exceptional care she gave to every patient she served. Above all, Brenda was an extraordinary mother. She was deeply devoted to her children, working tirelessly to care for them, support them, and give them every opportunity she could. She was strong and resilient, yet warm and nurturing. Outside of her work, Brenda found joy in gardening, and she had a remarkable ability to make anything flourish.

Brenda is survived by her husband of 22 years, Crist Bernholt; her children Mary (Roger) Moore, Jane (Christopher) Obringer, Mike (Venessa) Bernholt, and Ginger (Randall) Magoto; grandchildren Torie (Matthew) Williams, Lillian Hensley, Jackson Hensley, Nikki (Andrew) Hall, Brianna (Nick) Albers, Braden Obringer, Gracie Obringer, Jason, Kelsey, Alyssa, and Hudson Magoto, Joseph (Linda) Rockwell, and Christopher Bernholt; great-grandchildren Isabel (Austin) Napier, Makynzi (Michael) Benton, Ciara Hall, and Elizabeth and Oliver Williams; one great-great grandchild, Lilah Napier. She is also survived by her siblings, Wanda (Mike) Pitts, Dan (Sandra) Engle, Bill Engle, Chuck Engle, as well as several nieces, nephews, and many special friends. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Jason Hensley, stepdaughter Annette Bernholt, her sister, Sandra Rhodes, and mother-in-law Mary Taylor.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to EverHeart Hospice for their kind and compassionate care for Brenda during her final days.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 from 11 am to 1 pm at Baker Stevens Parramore Funeral Home, 6850 Roosevelt Ave, Middletown, Ohio 45005. Funeral service will immediately follow visitation at 1 pm at the funeral home officiated by Pastor Cecil Venters. She will then be laid to rest at Woodside Cemetery.
