Josefina Florando

Dr. Josefina "Josie" Tan Florando, beloved mother, grandmother, and devoted wife, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2025, at age 92. Born in 1933 in Manila, Philippines, Josie lived a life marked by resilience, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her family.

She worked tirelessly to overcome obstacles in pursuing medicine, ultimately becoming a physician in pediatric oncology. In a profound act of sacrifice, she later set aside her medical career to raise her two sons.

Josie was deeply involved in her sons' lives-volunteering as a room parent, driving them to school and sports, and always offering support. Her family remembers her as both gentle and strong, expressing love through service, sacrifice, and steadfast care.

Beyond family, Josie found joy and community at church, where she played in the handbell choir. She also loved to travel, delighting in new places, good food, and true to her resourceful spirit, finding the best deals.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Cornelio "Neil" Florando, on September 25, 2025. She is survived by her sons, Stan and Jeff, Jeff's wife Amy, and her granddaughters, Yumi and Kimi, who brought her immeasurable pride and joy.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, December 14, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at Baker-Stevens-Parramore Funeral Home, 6850 Roosevelt Avenue, Middletown, OH 45005. All who knew and loved Josie are welcome to attend and honor her memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages quiet acts of kindness or reflection-living as she did: simply, generously, and with love.

Though she may no longer walk beside us, Josie's spirit, love, and legacy will be remembered always and deeply missed.
