Hooper Memorial Home Inc.Brenda Lynn Chaney, 65, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, was called home by the Lord on Monday, December 22nd, at the West Shore UPMC Hospital, surrounded by friends and family.
Brenda was born on June 1st, 1960, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where she also grew up and spent her life with her brothers and sisters. Brenda attended Harrisburg Area Schools, graduating from John Harris (Harrisburg High School), and afterwards attended the Thompson Institute, where she earned her certification for office management and technical skills.
Brenda devoted nearly 25 years of her life to serving the state of Pennsylvania, working in various roles throughout her career, including working in the Pennsylvania State Museum as an administrative purchaser, which was one of her favorite roles. Her gift and love of caring for people extended well beyond her family and friends, where she would give to the homeless and donate to St. Jude’s Children's Hospital. Brenda was the type of individual who would do anything for anyone. Brenda will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, selflessness, her ability to light up a room with her laughter, and, of course, her unwavering love.
Brenda was an avid reader, making sure she always had the latest book from her favorite author, Nora Roberts. Her favorite color was always red, which could always be reflected in the cars she drove. In her free time, in addition to reading, she enjoyed collecting coins, and if you weren't careful, she was quick to take your change to add to her growing collection. On any given day, you could also catch her watching anything centered around true crime; her favorite shows being Law and Order SVU and Cold Case. Brenda also loved various genres of music, spending time with family and friends sharing stories, and absolutely loved sitting and listening to thunderstorms.
Brenda was preceded in death by her mother, Areatha (Lawson) Lee, father, Mose Lee Jr, brother Wayne Lee, and sister Lorraine Warren.
She is survived by her husband Brian Chaney Sr., her two sons Brian Chaney Jr. (Marie), and Brandon Chaney, four grandsons Marquin Melendez (Viviana), Brian Chaney III (Lil Bj), Bryson Chaney, D'andre Ward, a great grandson Hezekiah Melendez, her best friend of 42 years Deb Oswald, and her brothers (Ronald Lee, Tyrone Lee, and Mose Lee III (Miyosha)), sisters (Barbara Barnes and Cassandra Lee (Mimi)), and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Brenda will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.
