Brenda Gail O'Dear Davis, 78, of Nebo, passed away in the afternoon of Monday, August 19, 2024 at the Solace Center in Asheville, North Carolina.
Brenda was born in McDowell County on December 15, 1945 to the late Rev. Harold O'Dear and the late Reva Jane Franklin O'Dear. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Albert Eugene Davis; siblings, Bobby O'Dear, Gene O'Dear, Yvonne Gallimore and Janice Dockery.
She loved sports and supported her children in all of their athletic endeavors. She was also the first female umpire in McDowell County. Brenda was an excellent cook who enjoyed preparing meals for her family. She was known for her sense of humor and was very entertaining to be around. One of her favorite pastimes was working in her flower garden. Most of all she loved her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Surviving Brenda are her four children, Gregory Davis, Paul Davis (Janet), Tony Davis (Melissa) and Dottie Davis; a brother Guy Burleson; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren with another on the way and a special niece, Kim Hollifield.
A funeral service for Brenda will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Beam Celebration Center behind the funeral home. Receiving of friends will be one hour prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00. Burial will take place at McDowell Memorial Park following the service.
