Mrs. Brenda Jean Downs, age 82, of Indian Mound, TN, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 19, 2025, with her loving family by her side.
She was born on June 17, 1943, the daughter of Arthur Cleo and Emma Dee Mullins Ford. Brenda worked as a bank teller for many years and was known for her kind and gentle spirit. A woman of deep faith, she was a devoted Christian and attended Dyers Creek Church, where she faithfully worshiped and served.
Later in life, Brenda found great joy in babysitting her grandchildren and creating treasured memories with them-a love and bond that will live on in their hearts forever. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cleo and Emma Ford, and by her beloved husband, John Steven Downs.
Brenda is survived by her daughters, Joy Coy (Mike) and Jan Gunter (Chris); grandchildren, Allison Parker (Jake), Miranda Anglin (Landon), Emma Taylor, Ella Gunter, and Easton Gunter; and grandchildren by marriage, Kortney Denison (Aaron) and Hunter Coy (Jenna).
A visitation will be held at Anglin Funeral Home on Sunday, September 21, 2025, beginning at 12:00 p.m., and will continue until the funeral service at 2:00 p.m., with Bro. Jeff Wallace officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Indian Mound, TN. Serving as pallbearers are Chris Gunter, Mike Coy, Landon Anglin, Jake Williams, Hunter Coy, and Jared Anderson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt.
