Brenda Espenship Obituary

November 15, 1940 - January 8, 2025. Brenda Brown Espenship, aged 84, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, January 8th, 2025, at Haven Hospice. Born on November 15, 1940, in Lake City, she was the cherished daughter of Jay Walton Brown and Louise Mann Brown.
Despite battling severe osteoporosis and arthritis for many years, Brenda retained her wit, sharp mind, and endearing smile. Her presence enriched the lives of those around her, leaving a profound void with her passing.
Brenda's life was marked by her devotion to family and her community. She is survived by her loving husband, Dewilton "Puddy" Espenship; her daughter, Kelly Henderson; and her grandchildren, Chase, Chance, Forrest, Justin, Janelle, and Michelle. She was predeceased by her son, Michael J. Lord, who passed away at the age of 54 due to Glioblastoma. The family finds comfort in knowing that Brenda and Mike are now reunited.
Throughout her life, Brenda was deeply involved in her spiritual community. Initially a long-time attendee of a local Catholic church, she later became a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, embracing the fellowship and community there.
Brenda was known for her culinary skills, often delighting family and friends with traditional southern dishes and experimenting with new recipes. Her creative spirit was also evident in her artistic endeavors, particularly in pottery, which was among her favorite hobbies. Additionally, she cherished the time spent with her husband at home and their many beloved cats, who were a constant source of joy and companionship.
In line with her wishes, Brenda requested no formal service be held. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to Haven Hospice in Lake City, Florida, in recognition of the compassionate care they provided. Contributions can be made via their website at https://havenhospice.com/donate or call 386-961-0155. Brenda's memory and legacy will continue to live on through the countless lives she touched and the love she shared.

Fond memories of Brenda (and her sister Peggie) coming to my mother for piano lessons as a teenager. So sorry to read of her passing.

I remember Brenda as my dearest friend Kelly´s Mom. Many of the fine qualities she possessed were passed down to her beautiful daughter. I have such great memories of times spent with Brenda and Kelly. We went to Art Shows in Gainesville, had so much fun with home decorating in Lake City. Brenda was an excellent cook and I was so impressed with her southern hospitality and sweet southern kindness. I will always be grateful that she brought my best friend into the world. I love her for that. RIP Brenda. I will never forget you

May she rest easy....I so remember her as a friend while I attended school in Lake City, and going to Columbia High School.
