Brenda Sue Bowles Evans, 73, of Durham, North Carolina passed on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Durham County, North Carolina on March 23, 1951, to the late James Bowles and Violet Crabtree.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her brother, Mike Bowles.
Brenda Evans was a nurse for 38 years at Duke Regional Hospital. She loved her children and grandchildren very much. After battling lung cancer courageously for 10 years, she passed away peacefully at home with her family. Mrs. Evans loved her lord and was a member at Olive Branch Baptist Church.
Brenda will be deeply missed by her family and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Brenda is survived by her loving husband, Benny Evans; son, Roger Evans (Reca) of Durham, N.C.; daughter, Jennifer Runion (Nathan) of Durham, N.C.; brother, Jimmy Bowles; sister, Judy Canada (Drew); grandchildren, Roxanne Evans, Rhiannon Oswald, William Runion, Benjamin Runion; great-grandchildren, Charlie Sindermann and John Lancaster.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Friday, September 6, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Olive Branch Baptist Church with Reverend Tim Wheeler officiating. Interment will be at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Roger Evans, Wesley Evans, Lane Runion, Ben Runion, Ryan Evans, and Pedro Ortega.
Flowers are acceptable.
