Brenda Lee Henson, 73, of McLoud, passed from this life to the Kingdom of God with her family by her side on Thursday, June 5, 2025, in Oklahoma City. Brenda was born October 26, 1951, in Nashville, TN, to Paul and Louise (Masters) Lane. She moved with her family to South Carolina where she met and married Samuel “Ray” Henson. The couple was married February 5, 1972, in Greenville, South Carolina. The family moved to McLoud in December of 1978.
Brenda held a few jobs during her life; however, her family and her church were her passions. She was a supportive and loving wife as well as a doting and wonderful mother and grandmother. She loved spending time outdoors gardening, mowing the yard, and watching the birds. She loved to sing and listen to old gospel. She also enjoyed sewing and cooking for anyone. She taught her children by example, to love and serve the Lord. Brenda served Christ at Hillside Baptist Church in various capacities. She ran the food pantry for many years and was also involved in VBS, prison ministries, choir, and much more. Brenda’s life will speak for her as she enters Heaven’s Gate.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother George Edmund Lane, sister Alice June Lane, and a son Dewey Shannon Henson.
Those left to praise her virtues and cherish her memory include her husband Ray of the home; son Scott and wife Brittany Henson of Mountain View, Arkansas; daughters, Stephanie and husband Randy Chesser, Stacey and husband Wayne Carnell all of McLoud; brother Jack Lane of Alabama; sister Sue and husband Mace Westmoreland of South Carolina; and a sister-in-law Glenna Lane of McLoud; grandchildren Andrew and wife Virginia Chesser, Aaron and wife Sydney Chesmond, Adam Chesser, Emily Chesser, Dewey Henson, Abigale Henson, Eric Brown and Taylor Brown; one great-grandchild Samuel Lee Chesser and a host of other family and friends.
Friends may greet the family from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hillside Baptist Church (333892 E 1040 Rd, McLoud, OK 74851). Burial will follow in the Jamison Cemetery. Pastor Tuney Ropp will officiate.
