Brenda Hughes, 77, of Dyersburg, Tennessee died Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.
Born Tuesday, December 8, 1947, in Dyersburg, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late William "Bill" Lee and the late Francine Hardin Lee. Ms. Hughes was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, she lived a life marked by compassion. She was retired industrial welder for Hecketon Manufacturing. Her family was the center of her world. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend whose love was unconditional and whose wisdom will continue to guide those she leaves behind. Brenda was known for her strong work ethic and the pride she took in doing things well. She found joy in simple moments-spending time with her family, sharing laughter around the table, and offering words of encouragement to anyone in need.
There will be a private graveside service at Church Grove Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee at a later date.
She is survived by her beloved husband of twenty-seven years, Douglas "Doug" Hughes; her two sons Tony Strawn (Ale) and Scott Hughes (Christina) both of Dyersburg, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Carley Strawn, Adriana Dunevant (Blake), Justin Milligan (Madilyn), Cody Milligan, and Hunter Milligan and five greatgrandchildren, Easton Milligan, Kennedy Dunevant, Miller Strawn, Reid Milligan and Carter Dunevant.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Teresa Milligan: one great grandchild, Michael Anthony Jowers, II, and three brothers, Alton Lee, David Lee, and George Hardin.
Her legacy of love, hard work, and devotion will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
