It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brenda Rice Mullinax, who left us on August 9, 2025, surrounded by her family at the age of 77. Born on May 20, 1948, in Gaston County, NC, Brenda spent her life in her hometown of Dallas, NC, where she brightened the lives of everyone around her with her warmth and humor.
Brenda was a talented seamstress who dedicated her career at Belk, showcasing her creativity and skill in everything she did. Outside of work, she had a passion for pencil drawing and had a special fondness for birdhouses. Her artistic spirit was matched only by her love for family and friends.
Brenda had a soft spot for country music, with Kenny Chesney holding a special place on her playlist. Family gatherings were never complete without her infectious laughter and good sense of humor that could light up any room.
She cherished every moment spent with her family; daughters, Jackie Smith (Scott) and Michelle Hunter; grandchildren; great grandchildren; significant other, Lanny Smith; brother, Don Rice; special friends, The East School Girls and other life long friends/neighbors.
Brenda was preceded in death by husband, Jerry Mullinax; parents, Benton and Elizabeth Rice; sister, Juanita Peeler.
A memorial service to celebrate Brenda's life will take place on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Greene Funeral Service South Chapel, with visitation starting at 2:00 PM.
She will be remembered fondly by all who knew her, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of her loved ones.
