Funeral services for Mrs. Brenda Newsom will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Saulters Moore Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Micah Rutland officiating. Mrs. Newsome, age 73, entered into her eternal rest Saturday, August 16, 2025, at her residence in New Hebron, Mississippi. Saulters Moore Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 11:00 a.m. at Saulters Moore Funeral Home.
Mrs. Newsom will be carried to her final rest by those honored to serve as pallbearers; they include Jake Magee, Maggie Merrell, Terry Newsom, Lawrence Smith, Donald Cole, and Carter Bridges.
Brenda Newsom was born on October 18, 1951, in Prentiss, Mississippi, to Clyde and Johnnie V. Magee.
She graduated from New Hebron High School in 1970, where she made lasting memories as a member of the basketball team and the cheerleading squad. Later, while living on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, she pursued furthering her education at a business college.
Brenda dedicated several years of her professional life as a veterinary assistant at Price's Veterinary Clinic in Prentiss, where she combined her love for animals with her unwavering commitment to serving others. In addition to her veterinary work, Brenda also devoted her time to raising cattle, a testament to her hardworking nature and connection to the land. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading.
Brenda was known for her warm personality and her role as a big sister to her nieces and nephews, as well as her brother-in-law. The memories created during their time together, especially those spent on the Gulf Coast, brought her immense joy and fulfillment.
She was a member of Old Hebron Baptist Church,
She leaves behind a legacy defined by her kindness, nurturing spirit, and dedication to her family and community. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
Brenda is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Holly Mae Davis.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Danny Newsom, and brother James Richard Magee.
