Brenda Kay Petrisin, 69, of Rostraver Township, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 with her loving daughters at her side. Born in Morgantown, West Virginia on December 3, 1955, she was a daughter of the late John and Thelma (Liller) Zilkanich.
Brenda grew up in Morgantown, West Virginia on her parents 40-plus-acre farm where she truly loved caring for animals and helping on the farm. Growing up, she had a horse named Jack, a Tennessee Walker, had two white German Shepherds named King and Queen, as well as numerous other animals.
She was a 1974 graduate of Morgantown High School and was a member of the ladies' basketball team, was a cheerleader and a member of Key Club. She then attended West Virginia University for a short time and met the love of her life, Dennis Petrisin. In 1980 the two wed in the beautiful Laurel Highlands.
An intelligent and industrious woman, Brenda was multifaceted and worked at numerous jobs. She worked at a daycare center when she was younger. In her adult life, she worked for IMB, US Steel in Pittsburgh, Mellon Bank, Alcoa, Rockwell Group, and as a depositionist and clerical worker for a few engineering companies. Brenda graduated with her Associate's Degree from CCAC during this time as well.
Brenda dedicated her life to creating a warm and nurturing home, while also serving the Lord and sharing His word with others. Her greatest joys came from spending quality time with her family, learning new things, reading, being outdoors, playing her acoustic guitar, listening to music, cooking/baking/gardening, and visiting with her family in West Virginia. She was a woman of strong faith and great strength. She was quick-witted, always prepared, and would always win at a game of Rummy. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, building puzzles, drawing/coloring pictures and reading to them.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dennis W. Petrisin, her sister, Sandra Cook, and her brother, Kenneth Zilkanich.
She is survived by her two daughters, Rachel (Tyler) Peters of Easton PA and Michele (Adam Bridge) Petrisin of Belle Vernon PA; three grandchildren, Treyson Peters, Cicila Peters and Adam Bridge Jr.; brother, John (Danielle) Zilkanich of Morgantown, WV; four brother-in-laws, Gerald (Alena) Petrisin of Fort Myers, FL, John (Karen) Petrisin of Venetia PA, Raymond (Cheryl) Petrisin of Morgantown, WV, and Robert Petrisin of Temecula, CA along with numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
