Brent Cutler Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jones & Casey Funeral Home - Challis on Jun. 5, 2024.
Brent Dwayne Cutler, born January 9th 1961 to Howard and Zella Cutler, was called to heaven June 1st 2024 in Salt Lake City surrounded by his loving wife and his children.
Brent was a miracle right from the start. At 6 weeks old he caught pneumonia and his doctor didn't think he would make it through the night. At the age of 10 he was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, although it did not slow him down. Throughout his adolescent and teenage years he competed in football, track, basketball, arm wrestling, and rodeo. Brent won a state championship in arm wrestling in his weight class and then challenged the next two weight classes up and won every match. He was an excellent athlete and excelled in anything he wanted to do.
Brent was a middle child between his sister (bean) Zelda Corrigan who is 1 year older and younger brother Preston, who is 17 years younger. He took great pride in being a brother and stayed in very close contact with both of his siblings throughout his life.
In 1984 Brent married Tracy Devine. Together they had enough children to populate the Pahsimeroi valley. First, in 1985, a daughter Sylvia Beason. In 1986 was the birth of their first son Andrew Cutler. Twins were next in 1989 with Logan and Coltyn Cutler. Then in 1991, a miracle arrived and Skyler Cutler was born. To this day he remains the favorite child and a legend. 1993 brought another girl, Shalene Cutler. Jacob Cutler followed a few years later in 1996, and finally in 2003 the baby of the bunch, Brenna Cutler was born. Shortly after Brenna's arrival Brent was introduced to his oldest daughter, Kathy Sherwood. Brent followed his little brother and his children all around the country to support them in whatever sport they may have been doing at the time. In 2010 Brent and Tracy parted ways.
2013 was the year Brent met his eternal soul mate Nora Totten. She brought 6 more children for Brent to love. James, Jacob, Andrea (Jason), Joshua, Jared (Marlayna), and Jeremiah
Brent loved playing music. While he was in high school he joined the family band with his father Howard. He played with many musicians throughout the years and even taught a couple of his kids to play music as well. He would often sing to himself and others and you could count on him using his steering wheel as a drum set anywhere he went.
Coaching was a passion for Brent. He coached for Challis schools, assisting in football and wrestling for 32 years. He passed on his love for coaching to his children and continued to coach them after every football game, wrestling match or rodeo.
Brent is survived by his loving wife Nora Cutler, his parents Howard and Zella Cutler, sister Bean, Zelda Corrigan (Tim) brother Preston Cutler (Jamie), his daughters Kathy Sherwood, Sylvia Beason (Ben), Shalene Cutler and Brenna Cutler. His sons Andrew Cutler(Dani), Logan Cutler (Erika) Coltyn Cutler (Darian) Skyler Cutler (Laycee) and Jacob Cutler (Sara) along with 31 grand children and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dad never met a stranger. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed harassing every nurse and waitress he could. He was a great man and was loved by everybody who knew him. He will be missed greatly!
We will have Dad's funeral Saturday June 8th at 11am at the Challis LDS Church! All are welcome!
